PROGRAM

Shabbat, the seventh day of the week, is a time to paise, reset, and reconnect. In Israel, Friday evenings often begin with families gathering around the table to share delicious food, reflect on the past week, and enjoy time together.

At Hillel Polska, our Shabbat Dinner carry that same spirit - and more. They are not only moments of rest and community, but also meaningful opportunities to engage in deep conversation, explore Jewish values, and hear from inspiring guest speakers: scholars, activists, and experts who bring fresh perspectvies on topics that matter to use

Trips

From time to time, we step outside the city to spend a few days together in new surroundings. These getaways let us explore Jewish life in other parts of Poland, visit places rich with history, and open our minds to new ideas and experiences.

A special kind of trip is our Shabbaton - a weekend retreat where we welcome Shabbat surronded by nature. Over two days, we dive into workshops, ectures, shared meals, and joygul activities with nvited guests. It's a time for learning, laughter, and deepening our connection to Judaism - and to each other.,

There's nothing more joyful than celebrating Jewish holidays together - from the wild fun of Purim to the warm glow of Chanukah, we love gathering around the table to share in the traditions of our ancestors.

Each Jewish holiday also offers a chance to reflect on bigger questions. At Hillel Polska, we explore the unibersal values behind the rituals.: Tu BiShvat sparks conversations about ecology and the environment; Passover opens dialogye around themes of freedom and displacement.

That's why even those of us who feel far from religious life find something meaningful in the way we celebrate - because at Hillel, every holiday is both personal and relevant to the world we live in today.

Hebrew

Once reserved only for prayer and sacred texts, Hebrew was revived and modernized by early Zionist viosionaries - some of the boldest dreamers of the 20th century. Reborn alongside the State of Israel, Hebrew replaced Yiddish as the shared language of the Jewish people.

At Hillel Polska, we offer Hebrew lessons designed for young adults who want to connect more deeply with Jewish culture and Israel. Our courses are accessible, engaging, and student-budget friendly - because learning Hebrew is not just about language, it's discovering a deeper part of your identity.

Taglit Birthright is a free 10-day educational journey for young adults with Jewish roots. The trip offers a meaningful introduction to the State of Israel - its history, people, landscapes, and culture - as well as deeper engagement with Jewish traditions and identity.

Are you 18-27 years old and have Jewish heritage? Reach out to us! Hillel Polska organizes Polish groups each year - and we can tell you from experience: this is a journey you don't want to miss.

Friends & Fun

Sometimes the best way to build community is simply by having a good time. That's why we also meet up casually - to watch movies, play board games, make sushi or braid our own challah for Shabbat.

From our light conversations about favorite recipes to lively discussions on history and politics, our hangouts are full of laughter, connection, and everything in between.

If you're curious about Hillel and want to meet people in a relaxed setting, our social events are the perfect place to start. Drop by and see for yourself - it's pretty great here.

At Hillel Polska, we love trying new things - sometimes tied to holidays or current events, and sometimes just for fun. Whether it's crafting mini indoor gardens, making moss art, or sculpting kiddush cups our ofn clay, our workshops are creative, hands-on, and always a great way to connect.

And when we can, we use our creativity to give back. We've sold handmade crafts to raise money for charity, helped restore Jewish cemeteries, and organized volunteer days to support people in need. Because learning and doing good go hand in hand here.

Volunteering

At Hillel Polska, we take action to improve the world around us - guided by the Jewish value of tikkun olam, or "repairing the world." Our community takes part in a wide range of volunteer projects that reflect care, compassion, and solidarity.

We've supported seniors in the Jewish community, delivered holiday gift packages, helped people experiencing homelessness, and partnered with local and national organizations to create lasting impact.

Recently, our efforts extended to Israel, where Hillel participants volunteered in Kibbutzim affected by the October 7 attacks - helping with harvests and cleanup in a moment of real need.

No matter the project, we believe that even small actions can help create a better, more connected world.
